How we’ll achieve it

Managing anxiety and stress

We’ll work with specific practices that help calm your nervous system before, during, and after your practice.

You’ll develop the ability to closely observe the muscular tension you generate while playing, allowing you to consciously decide how much force you really need at each moment of your practice.

Somatic re-education

To achieve efficient and coordinated movement, it’s essential to understand how your body is structured and how it functions.

In class, we cover basic concepts of functional anatomy, as well as simple topics in neuroscience and biomechanics, focusing on the nervous, muscular, and respiratory systems.

Understanding habits

The tools of the Alexander Technique will help you observe your habits and develop the ability to let them go when you no longer need them. We will also explore what is considered “correct posture.”

This work will allow you to reduce effort and muscular tension, improving your coordination, precision, smoothness, and freedom of movement, while also helping to resolve discomfort and pain related to practice.

Listening and conscious repertoire choice

Do you truly enjoy the music you play?

Conscious repertoire selection, often overlooked, plays a key role in my approach to the instrument. With this work, you’ll learn to choose the repertoire that suits you, based on mindful listening and transcription of music you love, regardless of the musical style you play.

Mindful practice organization

Consciously organizing your daily practice is essential to overcome challenges such as anxiety and excessive effort or tension.

In this part of the work, you’ll learn:

  • Block study strategies

  • Warm-up, cool-down, stretching, and active rest strategies, adapted to your specific needs at each moment of practice (warming up for an audition is not the same as preparing for daily practice).

Bringing it all together

As a musician, I know how important it is to have practical tools you can apply while playing. That’s why in every class we apply everything we’ve learned directly to your instrument and repertoire. My goal is not to add more things for you to study or take time from where you don’t have it. Everything we work on is extremely simple and can be applied from our very first session.

Do you have any questions?

The lessons have helped me tremendously. Felipe’s warmth, dedication, and support as a teacher, friend, and mentor are truly healing.

Having someone nearby who listens, understands, and helps you see that life is simpler than you imagine, and that with consistency, confidence, and organization anything is possible, is invaluable.

Nicolás López

Thanks to the lessons, I have more confidence in my musical knowledge and skills. I’ve gained better tools to manage my emotions while playing—both positive and negative—more order and organization in my practice, greater respect for the signals my body gives me, and above all, I truly enjoy connecting with my instrument on a new level and from a fresh perspective.
